PERSONAL PRIVATE INSTRUCTION (PPI)

Welcome

Welcome and congratulations on your journey to becoming a bad ass cat groomer! The following will give you all the information you need to know about training with us at your location. You can book from 3 to 5 consecutives PPI (personalized private instruction) days with us.

PRE-REQUISITES

Pre-requisites:

·         NCGI membership (your membership must be current)

·         Syllabus (you need to have bought the syllabus)

·         2 written exams (you need to have passed at least 2 written exams)

PPI is appropriate for beginners, intermediate and experienced cat groomers. No previous experience is required but you must meet the pre-requisites to learn with us.

Each day of PPI can be customized for the trainee who is purchasing the PPI day.

When signing up for PPI, please provide your previous hands-on experience, if any, and which 2 written exams you have passed.

You will also need to tell us how many PPI days you are looking for and what your objective is. We will also need to know what you would like to work on during your PPI. If you are not sure what you need, we can gladly assist you in determining that with you depending on the number of days, your previous experience and your goals.

COST

FulI PPI day                        10 am to 4 pm                                   $1 000 per day*

*Does not include travel fees and travel days which are payable in addition to the PPI fee.

Travel Fees: Travel and overnight accommodations

Travel days: one or two travel days depending on location at $350USD per day

PPI days can be anything you want to work on.

Mandatory Tools:

 ·        Air Muzzle

·         Nail Trimmers appropriate for cats

·         Metal Combs

(we like - CC Deshedding Comb, Face/Feet Comb and Fine/Coarse Comb)

·         Clipper with a #10 Blade (our favorites - Bravura, KM Cordless, KM 10)

·         Clipper vac or Hair vac with attachment (if you want to practice Comb Cuts or attempt that exam)

·         Catty Shack Vac (highly recommended but not mandatory)

·         All consumables needed (a list will be provided upon registration)

You must wear grooming clothes and appropriate non-slip shoes.

The above items are mandatory*. We cannot provide these items to you and failure to have those items could result in cancellation of your PPI day(s) without reimbursement.

Cats

Cats to be provided by the trainee for each day, recommended 2-3 per day. If the premises doesn’t have a Catty Shack Vac, the number of cats should be limited to 2. Cats should be patient, large/healthy sized and in good condition and have been groomed successfully by the trainee previously. Please inform the cat owners that the visit will take more time than a normal grooming visit, so we are not rushed during the training session. Practical exams can also be attempted during your PPI days. Please be aware that to practice or attempt the comb cut, a clipper vac or a hair vac is mandatory.

CFMG EXAMS

Written exams

Written exams are available to be proctored at no extra cost during your PPI day and must be completed during the PPI day (each exam has a 1 hour time limit as per NCGI guidelines). Please let us know when booking if you would like schedule an exam. Registration and exam fees must be paid to NCGI before the day of testing. This can be done at www.nationalcatgroomers.com/exams, make sure to enter Anne Thompson in the proctor’s information box.

Practical Exams

Most people need some minimal amount of hands-on training prior to being able to take the practical exams. It is impossible for us to know whether a trainee is ready to take any of the practical exams until after we have spent a minimum of 1 day of PPI. After such, we can provide an assessment of a trainee’s readiness for any of the 5 practical exams.

Practical exam can be attempted during PPI days. Exam fees for practical exams is payable to NCGI after the exam is passed.
